Retirement Planning Cash Flow Analysis: This is the recommended starting point in your investment work with us. During this process we identify your goals and objectives, liquidity requirements, and recommend an asset allocation based on this review.
Stock Investing: We are a value oriented firm, and focus on companies with good balance sheets and are also looking for good dividend yields.
Municipal Bond Investing: We recommend high quality tax-free bonds, AA rated or better by all of the rating agencies coving the issue, S&P, Moody’s and/or Fitch, with varying lengths to maturity based on your liquidity requirements and objectives. Bonds which mature sooner normally provide lower yields than the longer term to maturity bonds. Bonds can be sold prior to maturity, but are subject to interest rate risk upon sale, meaning if interest rates are higher when you sell than when you purchased the bonds it is possible to lose principal when you sell. Another risk with municipal bonds is the credit risk of the borrower. Historically, highly rated municipal bonds have not experienced much credit risk with a very low default rate. We always recommend municipal bonds that are rated AA or higher by all the rating agencies that follow the issue. If any rating agency that rates the bond downgrades below AA we get bids and if the bid is in our opinion reasonable we recommend selling the bond at that point. While this does not guaranty against investment loss, this reduces the credit risk in the portfolios we manage considerably.
